Welcome to the launch of the latest iteration of the smokerblog. This version has a fancy new title, sports a new look (which will no doubt quickly evolve over the next few months), and is based on a newer version of the Movable Type blogging software (3.2). The old smokerblog will continue to exist in its current form and will remain accessible to all (see also the archive link to the right there) except that the commenting will be turned off.

But so what's up with the new name? I wish there was some snappy explanation I could give, but really I just had this domain name sitting around that I decided I should use. I snagged it one day on impulse after seeing the line from Shakespeare (Hamlet, Act 1 scene 5) quoted on a reading list I belong to. I've always thought that was a pretty hilarious line when taken out of context. And. So. Here we are.
